Anyone who knows me will know how much I love tapas. The idea of catch up with friends and family while a constant stream of delicious dishes to share arrives at our table is my idea of heaven, especially if the food is as good as it is at the Ember Yard. Right in the centre of Soho and easy to get to, the Ember Yard is an amazing little find with a wonderful relaxed atmosphere it was the perfect place to have a long family lunch with Spock’s sister and boyfriend, and Step Monkey 1 and 2 in tow. If I haven’t mentioned it before Step Monkey 1 (SM1) and 2 (SM2) are Spock’s 12 and 10 year old sons respectively and like the rest of the clan have discerning palates and are little wannabe foodies themselves, so this place needed to be good enough to get their approval. Vegetarians don’t be put off even though the Ember Yard is a charcuterie bar and grill the variety in the vegetable sharing plates is the best I’ve seen in a long time, and there’s also a great selection of fish dishes to share. All the dishes on this post were delicious the only regret I have is not taking photos of absolutely everything to share with you.

Ahh Burrata, the extra creamy extra special mozzarella…My mouth is watering as I type ..yum.

Iberica Pork, this ham is from Iberian pigs that are solely compound fed on grain and some acorn, giving its sweet flavour. The Presa is the muscle between the top of the shoulder and the beginning of the loin and unusually for pork can also be cooked rare. Simply delicious.

And finally the puddings, the grilled pear with amaretti was the perfect end to the feast.
Reviews:
Bee: Delicious!! The food was classic and superbly executed. The decor and atmosphere was beautiful and relaxed, great place for fun get together. The only let down for me was the choice of deserts, although the pear was delicious (and chosen by Spock), I had the Muscovado Panna Cotta and the flavours were just a little too strong for me so didn’t quite it the mark. Next time I would go back with a group of friends in the evening to see if it maintained it’s friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Overall Experience (4 / 5)
SM1(aged 12) : On Saturday I went to the Ember Yard and had the Jamon Iberico de Bellotta , Roasted and Chargrilled Iberico Pork Ribs with Quince Glaze and Celeriac Puree.
Overall Experience (5 / 5)
SM2 (aged 10) : Ember is a very nice restaurant. When I went there the first thing we had was the grilled flatbread with honey and thyme. Out of 10 I would give this an 8. The next thing we tried was an iberico ham board. My brother loved it but I would only give it a 6/10. The last thing that I tried was the aylesbury duck pincho with fig and pomegranate and iberico pork fat chips with chorizo ketchup, but my over all score was 8/10.
