La Sphere : Mandarin bubble with a cinnamon cloud, shortbread and mandarin sorbet

Review : French Restaurant – L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon

The London offering of the ‘chef of the century’ Joel Robuchon, L’Atellier de Joel Robuchon on West Street,  Covent Garden  is one of our favorite restaurants and is one that we go to every year to celebrate Spock’s birthday. Yes, it’s expensive but unlike so many restaurants that can seem so over priced and over hyped, the L’Atellier menu never seems to disappoint in creativeness or taste. You have the choice of the ground floor  or the upstairs restaurant , we always choose to sit on the ground floor as its much more relaxed and you can sit at the bar and check out the goings on in the kitchen! Oh and you mustn’t forget to visit their bar and roof top terrace, great drinks menu and a great vibe!

It also needn’t be too expensive; the varying types of menus allow you to go for a set menu or pre theatre option or if you’re splashing out for extra special occasion the full on gastronomically indulgence that is their tasting menu is also available. The set menus for three or four courses at £36 / £41 or £55/ £64 with matching wines  makes it an affordable option if you want to try out the delights of this restaurant.  Their small plates menu is designed such that you can share and indulge in various dishes in the style of tapas is another affordable if you don’t go crazy like me and order everything on the menu.. which trust me when everything tastes this good its so easy to do. Finally you can always plunge for the full a la carte menu or if you’re really feeling adventurous  and flush with a bit of spare cash you should check out their ‘Menu Decouverte’, the ‘Menu of Discovery’ which will not disappoint, but I do warn you you won’t want to eat for days after!
